Confederate style conversion of 1843-dated pistol by A. Waters of the type attributed to F. Persignon of Richmond, VA. The pistol shows the identifiable bolster and hammer for which this maker is noted. Refer: Page 568 Confederate Rifles and Muskets by Murphy and Madaus which shows two muskets showing similar percussion bolsters and the same style hammers. All other configurations on the pistol as standard and attached with captured ramrod, etc. Some scattered slight to moderate pitting, some slightly heavier pitting on barrel, stock is good to very good with traces of cartouche with normal carry and aging. The action is good, and generally good overall. These conversions of second-line military pistols made since for the Confederate army who were desperately in need of arms. Virtually every gunsmith and blacksmith was pressed into service creating and converting usable armament. One of a few conversions that are identifiable. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
