Confederate issue Griswold & Gunnison Navy size percussion revolver in .36 caliber with brass frame, serial number 3139 with cryptic letter “J” and secondary assemble number 61. The revolver remains in very good plus original conditionshowing some scattered light to moderate erosion and a great patina on the frame. The grips are very good and are slightly undersized from carry and use. The area around wedge port on the right side of the frame shows of the nicks and mars. The metal surfaces show forging flaws and striations. The action works well and is tight. Bill Gary’s inventory card reads “Everything original excellent condition” which the condition standard for Confederate arms and other arms is quitedifferent. Pictured in “Jackson Arms” catalog number 12, November 1955, “Romaine Fielding Collection” Los Angeles, California 1957, Marvin Hoffman “Museum of Historical Arms” 1981, page 288 “Brevette Revolvers” 2011 by Marco and Paxton.Mr. Gary felt that this was one of the best condition Confederate revolvers he had examined in over 50 years of collecting. The collection of William A. Gary consigned by his estate. Est.: $17,500-$35,000
