<B>Confederate Vice President Alexander Stephens Autograph Letter Signed.</B></I> One page, 4" x 5", Washington, January 11, 1874. In part: "<I>Your letter...duly received and your inquiries cheerfully granted...</B></I>" After the Civil War, Stephens served five months in prison and then, in 1866, was elected to the U.S. Senate where he served until 1882 when he resigned to take the office of governor of Georgia. Very fine condition with mailing fold and mounting traces on verso.
