<B>Cased Confederate Tintype of an Armed Infantryman.</B></I> Although not positively identified as such, the subject of this 2" x 3.5" studio portrait simply screams "rebel!" He wears a typically Confederate black slouch hat, a grey shell jacket, and what appears to be a Southern state seal sword belt plate. The photographer has painted the buttons and plate gold; however, an oval border within the rectangular plate seems to be peeking through the gilt. The soldier depicted here stands at attention with a bayonet affixed to his musket. Under glass within a brass mat and half-cased with a missing lid.
