Civil War–dated ALS signed “A. W. Johnson,” one page both sides, 5 x 7.25, Adam’s Run, South Carolina, January 31, 1865. Letter to his father. In part: “About one hundred Yankees landed about six miles from here…the reserves had a slight skirmish….they could have captured the whole party if they tried…Capt. Stuart has received orders to turn sixty of the cannoniers into infantry to support the battery.” In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
