Letter to his father, in part (with grammar and spelling retained): “I have nothing interesting to write to you except that our Major is going to leave soon he has been ordered by the Sec of War to report to Genl Lee for duty in Wright’s Brigade…Lieut-Col Moore now assumes command by order of the Sec of War. The following is his farewell address…Had it been his fortune to have been continued in command his instruction was to make efforts to gratify their ambition by leading them forward against the enemy where they could emulate their brothers in arms in deeds of glory, and their in battle deserve reputation for valor as well as for discipline & efficiency.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, and a light block of toning to second page. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
