Confederate Sharps Type Carbine by S.C. Robinson Richmond, Virginia, .52 cal. percussion, brass mounted, serial #758. The Carbine remains in good Confederate as found condition with a deep brown patina finish, scattered light to slightly heavy pitting with the heaviest pitting occurring toward the forward of the bbl. and breech areas. The barrel address and lock markings are fairly sharp and mostly legible. The wood is good with normal aging, battle marks, wear, slight losses and normal imperfections. The buttstock shows pen knife carved ID-right side-Letter X over what appears to be V followed by a raised A, C followed by a raised A (Virginia Cavalry?) carved left butt-probably same hand but somewhat deeper J.P. or I.P. C.A.G and 11 4m? These letters are hard to distinguish and they are interpretable. This scratch cut ID is typical of Southern arms and may be further researchable. The Carbine is sound and complete showing great patina and wear for firing and battle use. Recently discovered in Northern Arizona by a prominent Americana Collector. Est. $10,000-20,000
