In late 1861-January 1862 Alexand Stalcup, a Nashville gunsmith, altered 102 hunting rifles for the war effort. The alterations included: military stock, trigger guard, butt plate, reboring the caliber to 57-58 caliber, new commercial lock with reinforced spring, wooden ramrod. The guns were delivered to the Confederate government on January 11th, 1862. The rifles were sent to the Confederate States Arsenal in Tupelo Mississippi to have the barrel ends turned down to accept a socket bayonet. This rifle is unmarked other than the commercial lock plate marked Henry Parker Warranted.
