1868, North Carolina. Chatham Rail Road Company stock certificate for one share signed as president by WILLIAM RUFFIN COX (1832-1919) American soldier and politician from North Carolina. During the Civil War, Cox served as a brigadier general in the Confederate Army. Subsequently, he served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and as Secretary of the United States Senate. Vignette of a locomotive at top center. Revenue stamp affixed to let edge. Cut cancellations lightly affects Cox's signature. Pen transfer notation at left. This item has been encapsulated and graded by PASS-CO. Fine.
