The entire piece is framed to an overall size of 7.75" X 9.75". A brass nameplate underneath the image reads GENERAL GEORGE PICKETT / CSA 1825-1875. Pickett was a career U.S. Army officer who became a general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. He is best remembered for his participation in the futile and bloody assault at the Battle of Gettysburg that bears his name, Pickett's Charge. The image is the work of prolific Civil War photographer Mathew Brady. It is from E & H. T. Anthony from the Brady negatives.
