Yours G." General George E. Pickett wrote this letter to his wife Sallie after the birth of their son in July 1863, possibly during his campaigns in the vicinity of Petersburg between 1864 and 1865. Being so near to his family, he was able to send them various gifts and supplies, corresponding often with Sallie. Although parts of the letter are missing and some parts are illegible due to the haste in which it was written in pencil, it expresses his typical passion for his wife and son, and reveals a thoughtful, philosophical perception of their particular relationship and conditions. Top of page is missing with neatly torn edge, bottom of page missing with rough edge, part of the right side is neatly torn away, rough edges and tears on two edges, tape repair on lower right corner, light folds and toning on obverse, paper is lightly lined and aged, fair condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
