<B>Confederate General Stonewall Jackson Framed <I>Carte de Visite</B></I></B></I><B> Taken by Mathew Brady.</B></I> The image is matted, with the visible portion of the CDV measuring 2.25 x 3.75. The entire piece is framed to an overall size of 7.75" X 9.75". A brass nameplate underneath the image reads GENERAL STONEWALL JACKSON / CSA 1824-1863. Jackson was a Confederate general during the American Civil War. He is most famous for his audacious Valley Campaign of 1862 and as a corps commander in the Army of Northern Virginia under General Robert E. Lee. His own troops accidentally shot him at the battle of Chancellorsville and he died of complications from an amputated arm and pneumonia several days later. The image is the work of prolific Civil War photographer Mathew Brady. It is from E & H. T. Anthony from the Brady negatives.
