Jefferson Davis Virginia ballot from the 1861 Confederate presidential election. The printed slip reads: ''Election, Wednesday, November 6th, 1861 / For President / Jefferson Davis / of Mississippi / For Vice President / Alexander H. Stephens / of Georgia / Electoral Ticket / For The State At Large...'' Davis had been a Senator for Mississippi the year before, and ran without opposition for the Confederate presidency. The slip lists candidates for the 1st through 16th districts in Virginia, and nominates Roger A. Pryor for Congress. A signature to verso is that of the voter who cast this ballot. Measures 4'' x 6''. Toning and a sliver of paper loss to the top edge right of center, else near fine.
