Confederate Cavalry saber with original scabbard in untouched condition of Haymen-style. The sword is unquestionably authentic and measures 41-1/4” overall with 35-1/2” blade with unstopped fuller and typical three-branch guard and single cooper wire-wrapped grip. The blade shows a light to moderate patina with scattered erosion and pitting. Nothing serious, just normal aging. The tip has been broken about a quarter inch, never repaired. The hilt shows a deep patina. The grip shows about 60-80% of its original leather-over-wood which is flaking, and the original copper wrap is just loosening and the grip shows a split which is opening. The original crudely made and roughly soldered scabbard is included which shows proper brass mounts, and the throat is definitely confederate and original to this sword. The blade has never been out of the hilt, and this confederate cavalry saber is fresh to the auction block out of an old collection. Guaranteed authentic and confederate. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
