Manufactured by an unknown number of small manufacturers in the South during the course of the Civil War, duplication of Union regulation weapons was a popular activity, with this example showing features of both the 1840 and 1860 U.S. pattern swords. . Measuring 41 inches overall, with a curved 35 inch single fuller blade, marked "ARB" on the left ricasso. This appears to be a partial marking, and has not been identified to a maker, merchant or inspector.
