Autograph album containing hundreds of signatures of leaders from the Confederate States of America. Compiled by Florida Confederate Senator A.E. Maxwell and inscribed to his daughter Lizzie, dated 1863. In addition to signatures by 23 Confederate Senators and 73 Representatives, album features the signatures of Jefferson and Varina Davis, Alexander Stephens and Cabinet members Judah P. Benjamin, Christopher Memminger, George Wythe Randolph, Stephen Mallory and John H. Reagan. Also includes clipped signature of General Robert E. Lee. Quarto album is in original purple morocco, with extensive gilt embellishments, including all edges gilt. Entitled ''Album of Beauty,'' published in New York, circa 1855 with five engraved plates and some botanical specimens. In very good condition with some scuffing and shelf wear. Acquired from the great-granddaughter of Confederate Senator August Emmett Maxwell.
