Lot of 17 various documents and images of the Comstock including 5 framed items that consist of 2 sketches of Silver City and Virginia City, and 3 framed sets of Nevada postage stamps. Frames range in size from 13” x 16” to 8.5” x 6.25”. They are placed in wood frames and have little wear. There is also a lot of 9 sheets of checks, unissued, with check register stubs attached at left. They are from the B.F. Hastings & Co., 4 pages of 3 checks/page. Agency of The Bank of California" with "The Nevada Bank of San Francisco," printed above. Each sheet contains 6 checks, no. 1967-1972 and 1991-1996. "Savage Mining Co." "Wells Fargo & Co`s Bank," one page of 5 checks from Hale & Norcross S. M. Co., no. 821-825, printed in purple. A second sheet of 6 checks from Savage Mining Co., no. 967-972, printed in red. Both are datelined Virginia, Nev. 188_, by Bacon & Co.s Print. S.F. "Bullion and Exchange Bank, Carson, Nevada." Page contains 5 checks, no. 946-950. "Justice Silver Mining Co." printed at upper left in red and "For Justice Mining Co." printed at bottom right. Datelined Gold Hill, Nev. 189. There are also sketches and texts from 2 pages of Frank Leslie`s Illustrated Newspaper. Page 21, March 16, 1878, is titled "Across The Continent.-The Frank Leslie Transcontinental Excursion-The Party Investigating Silver-Mining In The Consolidated Virginia Silver Mine, At Virginia City.-From Sketches By Our Special Artist." Each page measures 10" x 16", is mounted on a white mat, and framed in a single, simple black plastic frame measuring 24" x 18", 2). "Sketch of Mining Timbers In Use At The Gould And Curry Mine, Virginia, Nev…” Measures 31" x 22", and mounted on brown mat in black plastic frame measuring 34" x 22.5". First Mortgage 30 Year Gold Income Bond, 2, from the Comstock Tunnel & Drainage Company, both issued 12 December 1919, with a "four per cent. interest per annum," to be redeemed in 30 years. Each has signature of W.C. Foster, president; and A.P. Miller, secretary, and has 60 bond coupons attached. Stamp at top center indicates "Revenue stamps imposed on the issue hereof…." Bond no. 978, for $1,000, has an ornate green border and signature of Thom Bauer, trust officer, on reverse. Number 1018, for $500, has an ornate brown border and is cancelled by stamp on the reverse. This piece has an additional stamp in the upper left corner extending the due date on the bond for 10 years, until 12 December 1959. - Maish Collection -58836
