Composite European broadsword of the colonial era measuring approximately 36” overall with 29 ½” blade nearly 1 5/8” across thickest part. The blade shows an old indecipherable armorers type stamp and is in good conditionwith some light to moderate pitting and still good temper. The cross guard, hilt and pommel are a good match and they show they have been together a long while with some light to slightly heavy pitting and erosionthat matches in age. The grip has been professionally rewrapped and the blade was shortened during period of use about 6 to 10 inches. In the colonial era old swords were refurbished shortened and sent to the NewWorld and also pirates liked these short swords. Est.: $750-$1,500.
