Complete Set of Eighteen Different Naramore Counterfeit Detector Photos.
This is a complete collection of 18 Naramore photos, nine First Charter Nationals and nine Legal Tenders, that has been well preserved. An act of Congress and cooperation of the Treasury Department got R.C. Naramore the permission to photograph these notes at 25% of their original size in 1866. The government's consent was withdrawn shortly thereafter. This was the first time that United States paper money had been officially photographed for distribution to the public. This group of eighteen photographs appears to have never been mounted to the cards that Naramore used to distribute his anti-counterfeiting sets. This set was found in the same album that brought us the stamp envelopes, the Superb $5 Educational, and the no-signatures Grant-Sherman face found elsewhere in this catalog.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
