Entirely hand-priced in ink. Part I with buyers' names neatly recorded. 4-page handwritten account of Irish Gun Money bound into Part I. Near fine. A notable early, wide-ranging collection. Anthon was one of the finest American numismatists of his day, and elected to take on the task of cataloguing his collection for sale himself. Unfortunately, while the sale was divided into five parts, Anthon died after the third had been sold, leaving it to other hands (Gaston Feuardent and George Cogan) to compile Parts IV and V. The British sale (Part I) in this volume is both priced and named. Adams 17, 19, 20, 22 and 23 in the Bangs series.
