1881, Philippines. Accion de 500 pesetas. Brown/Black. Superb arabesque border depicting women and children, a bare-breasted Filipina, shields, a map of the Philippines, and a ship. Litho. Partial coupons at left. The company's operations involved the cultivation, purchase, processing and sale of tobacco and tobacco products in the Philippines. The Banque de Paris et des Pays-Bas was one of the company's founders, and there was considerable French capital in the company. This piece should not be confused with the modern reprints of the same design but dating from the early 1980's. Stamp cancelled and very fine.
