Cert. #33237, bond for 5 francs, issued in 1850. Three vignettes, top center, Neptune pouring water into a river with four miners working. Two vignettes at the sides include a group of miner tools: wheelbarrow, spade, two different shovels, pick, and rope. Issued to bearer, signatures illegible. Black border on white paper. 4 x 8". Printer- Appert Fils et Vauasseur. Blue ink seal. This is the first stock certificate with a vignette from the California gold rush to date. A French certificate which incorporates San Franciscans and French in a joint venture to find gold, probably on or near the Mariposa estate. Exploitation des Mines & Rivieries de la Californie printed at top left. Great California gold rush piece. Some foxing, otherwise VF.
