American entertainer and dwarf from New Hampshire (1848–1881) who became one of P. T. Barnum’s major attractions at New York’s American Museum. ALS signed “G. W. M. Nutt, Known as Com Nutt, Manchester, N.H.,” one page, lightly-lined, 4 x 5.75, Union and Constitution letterhead, December 30, 1862. Letter to Miss Thompson, in full: “I received your letter Saing [sic] you Wished my autograph. So I will Oblige you in sending it. Respectly, Friend.” Includes an unsigned 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite of Commodore Nutt and Minnie Warren, published by Mathew Brady. In very good to fine condition, with an old repair to separation along the central horizontal fold.
