The lot features a beaded parfleche polychrome painted sheath from the Comanche Indians paired with a bowie trade knife being marked “Anadlarko (Anadarko) Wichita Agency 1875”. The knife is likely a fantasy piece as the mark is misspelled. The Andarko Agency or Wichita Indian Agency was established in 1857 in Oklahoma as a U.S. Indian Agency. The knife has a heavy blade with blacksmith stamped mark, steel bolsters and two-piece bone grip scale set. The sheath shows a polychrome painted parfleche rawhide sheath with hide sewing featuring Indian tanned hide beaded top section showing a geometric pattern with glass trade seed beads in colors of medium blue, chalk white and greasy. Below the beadwork shows a row of fringe with rolled tin jingle cones. The rear shows a hide belt tie. Measures 13 7/8”L by 3”W. The knife is 12.5”L.
