Lot of 19 pieces in 4 groups. Group 1) 4 identical spoons. A ship at full sail is pictured in the bowls, and a wreathed portrait of Christopher Columbus is at the top of the handle, beneath which is World’s Columbian Exposition in lettering and additional engraving. On the reverse of the handle is what appears to be a wreathed portrait of Queen Isabella, a world globe and engraving. One spoon has 1903 engraved on the back of the bowl. Demitasse size, 4” in length. All marked sterling. Group 2) 6 demitasse spoons, each showing a different Exposition building in its bowl (Art Palace, Machinery Hall, Agricultural Building, Administration Building, Fisheries Building, and Transportation Building). Handles are the same and have Christopher Columbus pictured and then World’s Fair City. Reverse is plain. All are marked “Standard.” He only Standard silver Co. we could find operated between 1895-1925 in Toronto and does not seem to be the same company. Group 3) 5 demistasse spoons, all with the same handles showing a standing Christopher Columbus and other motifs. Reverses are plain. Each bowl has something different depicted: World’s Fair City, Chicago, Woman’s Building, World’s Fair Souvenir—Algeria, and the Ferris Wheel (This one has Ora engraved on handle reverse). All are marked U.S. Sterling on the back. Group 4) 5 different spoons. a) Columbus and his sailors setting foot in the New World pictured in the bowl, date 1492. Handle has his portrait and Columbian Exposition. Marked Tilden Thurber & Co. Sterling. The company was founded by Henry Tilden, William H. Thurber and Gorham Thurber in Providence RI in 1880. In 1892 the company changed its name to Tilden-Thurber Corporation. Today they deal in art and antiques [Ref:

Coin Silver. c) A silver spoon with gold wash on part. Shows one of the buildings in the bowl and “Chicago 1892-3.” Handle has C. Columbus’ portrait and the same dates. Back is plain, no markings. d) This spoon also shows an unnamed building in the bowl, with “Chicago 1892-3” below. Handle has only World’s Fair and stylized engraving. Marked sterling. e) A figure of Columbus stands upon a world globe at the top of this spoon’s handle. The heart-shaped bowl shows Columbus and his men debarking onto New World soil.
