First Shuttle Flight Achievement Award presented to K. J. Johnson. Award consists of a 1.75? diameter medallion featuring the STS-1 crew emblem on the front and reverse stating: "Thank you for your contribution toward making the world's first orbital flight of the Space Shuttle STS 1 possible. We would like you to have this memento made, in part, of metal taken from the Columbia." Medallion is affixed to an 8.5 x 11 certificate which reads, “The crew of Columbia is pleased to present you with this medallion in appreciation of your contribution to the success of the First Manned Orbital Flight of the Space Shuttle,” with bottom having printed signatures of John Young and Bob Crippen. In very good condition, with tear and creasing to certificate.
