Columbia Type AD Home Grand Graphophone On Stand. The graphophone has an oak case with fancy domed lid, turned handle on top, rope twisted carved trim, turned corner columns and inset panels with The Home Grand Graphophone gold banner on the front. Has a nickeled base plate and structure with aluminum floating reproducer. This is a very rare model having a 2 in. dia. mandrel playing the standard cylinder records, slip-on 3 in. mandrel sleeve to play the saloon style cylinders and a large slip-on 5 in. dia. mandrel sleeve playing the concert cylinder records; the mandrel is on a pivoting bracket allowing the distance from the reproducer to be adjusted according to the cylinder diameter. Has a beautiful 8 panel horn with blue iridescent finish, gilt painted ribs and hand painted blue iris’ inside of the bell, measures 30 in. long x 19 in. dia.; hangs on a floor standing nickel plated tripod crane standing next to the floor cabinet. The phonograph sits on an oak 5 drawer cabinet with front, pilasters and serpentine kick board, has brass pulls and nickel name plate which reads “Patented, Dec. 13th 1898, June 6th 1899”. The cabinet holds 100 standard sized records and is accompanied by various Concert and Saloon records. Finally, this lot is complete with a framed poster pin-up advertising a concert, using the Home Grand Graphophone with 4 original brown paper admission tickets to the concert. Case measures 16 in. high x 16.5 in. wide x 13.75 in. deep; 5 drawer stand measures 36.5 in. high x 20.5 in. wide x 17 in. deep.
