Color 42 x 18 chart entitled “Space Shuttle Mission Chart STS-1,” “prepared and published by the Defense Mapping Agency…for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.” Chart shows all 37 of the Columbia’s projected orbits, as well as the tracking stations and their respective call letters. Rolled and in fine condition, with scattered light edge creases. Space Shuttle Columbia, commanded by John Young, and piloted by Robert Crippen, orbited the earth 37 times in this 54.5-hour mission, the first US manned space flight since the Apollo-Soyuz Project in 1975. An eye-catching piece of space history documenting the first orbital shuttle mission in 1981.
