Colt single action Army revolver .45 long colt caliber, 7 ½” barrel, U.S. Calvary series, inspections by D. F. C., brown patina finish, wood grips, serial number 73821. This revolver shows a gray to brown patina finish with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pitting. The front sight has been slimed slightly and the barrel address and patent markings are crisp. The U.S. marking on frame is at a slight angle with no second period behind the S. The grips show large losses at each toe, also marks and even wear. Also the right grip shows a carved A and the grips are only fair. All matching visible serial numbers and showing a G sub-inspection. The barrel number is matching and also correct inspections with proper ejector rod housing, brass spring, donut head to ejector rod, also correct boss and stud. The action is good, the bore is good and generally good overall. The odd U.S. stamp can be accounted for by the fact that the U.S. was stamped through the case hardening in this serial number range as Colt was using commercial frames that had been case hardened. Gale Kennedy historical West collection. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
