Colt pre-war Woodsman .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with 6 ½” barrel, showing U. S. Springfield Eagle proof on right rear of trigger guard bow. Factory letter confirms serial number 4734 sold toUnited States government, shipped to Small Arms School at Camp Perry, Ohio on July 27, 1918, in shipment of 100. Of the 100 purchased by the U.S. government only approximately 10 are known to collectorsmaking them among the rarest of Colt arms issued by the U.S. government in the pre-war era. The pistol retains approximately 85% to 95% original blue with good sharp edges and markings and just normal losses of finish atthe high points from holster, handling and normal use. The grips show some slight and even wear but are at least very good. The markings are also sharp and interior shows a good bore that is dirty and would clean. AColt marked two-tone clip is included.
