Colt pre-war Woodsman .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with 6 ½” barrel, blued finish, wood grips, in early production range serial number number 33. This 2 digit Colt is accompanied by a 1959 dated Coltletter signed by R.H. Wagner documenting this Woodsman was sold to Winchester Repeating Arms company, New Haven, Connecticut on April 9, 1915. Mr. Wagner further describes that he has seen a similar marking on the leftside of the receiver of this Woodsman pistol on one other but he was unable to identify it. The left side of the frame is indeed marked with a small 3 letter proof of which 2 letters are O and P and the other letter isnot discernible. This Colt retains approximately 80% to 90% original blue that is thinning and toning evenly. There is some minor scratches and beginning normal age. The grips are good to very good with slight useand minor oil staining. The bore is bright and the pistol has seen some use but has been well cared for. A two-tone early clip of the 1st type with hole on reverse is included. 2 digit early Colts are always sought after by
