Colt model 1877 storekeeper’s model double action revolver, .38 Colt caliber, nickel finish, hard-rubber grips, inscribed in backstrap in period script “G. S. White”, serial #63031. Shipped to Hibbard, Spencer,and Bartlett, Chicago, IL, January 21st 1888, 25 guns in shipment. All features confirmed by factory letter (included) but inscription not listed. The pistol is accompanied by an old photograph of man in cowboy hat measuring approx. 4-3/4” by 3”. There is penned identification, G. S. White, U.S. Marshall. The photograph is displayed with a photocopy entitled “Ten U.S. Marshalls” showing ten Marshalls who worked with “The Hanging Judge” Issac Parker. G. S. White was a captain of the Marshall service, was involved with the capture of Ned Christie, and some legendary lawmen worked for him. The original photograph appears to be the man in the topright of photo holding a shotgun. The pistol shows approx. 40-60% original nickel evenly drifting and toning. Areas where the finish has lifted show an uncleaned patina with some scattered erosion, pinprick pitting and
