Colt model 1877 double-action lightning revolver, storekeeper’s model, .38 caliber, 2-1/2” barrel, factory engraved, nickel and gold finished, hard rubber grips, serial #6092, shipped to J.P. Lower and sons, CO, April 10th, 1878, one gun in shipment, all features verified by factory letter and grips listed as “rubber”. The lightning shows scarce exhibition type engraving with stippled area around front sight and well-cut intertwining geometric scrolls and unusual factory patterning which have been attributed to Ulrich and exhibition display arms. The pistol shows a hand-cut “Colt DA .38” in block letters within a ribband on the left side of barrel, and the pistol remains in fine to excellent condition with 95-98% original nickel that is uncleaned and toning with a couple areas of light aging and erosion just starting. The patent dates and markings are sharp and the edges are crisp. The hammer, cylinder, trigger, and ejector/cylinder pin show most of their original rich gold plate, some minor areas of erosion and pinprick pitting. The hammer is 95%, the cylinder is 85-95% with the gilt missing from the front edge. The trigger is 75%. The knurled pin is about 85%. The action i
