Colt model 1872 open top .22 caliber revolver, early production, with 2-7/8" barrel and ejector rod fully and finely New York engraved in Nimschke style, silver and gold plated, pearl grips,serial #766. This early Colt shows original and well executed Nimschke style scrolls that are very profuse and well accomplished. The barrel and cylinder show strong traces of silver going to grey metal that are completely unpolished withgood sharp edges. The frame shows light gold gilt in protected areas drifting to uncleaned brass patina. The grips are fat and original, the left grip is very good to near fine, the right grip shows a crack through the center and is otherwisegood. The front sight and ejector rod are missing. A very rare Colt to find profusely engraved and this specimen is deserving of minor restorations it needs. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
