Colt model 1862 Police, .36 caliber percussion, 4-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, New York address serial #2586. The revolver remains in very good plus to near fine original condition showing 50-70% original blue on barrel evenly flaking and toning to a light brown patina with some minor scratches and a couple of mars in the wedge port area. The address is sharp, the cylinder retains 75% plus bright original blue with sharp patent date. The frame shows 70-80% case hardening with some areas of strong rainbow hues drifting at the edges. Hammer shows 50% darkening case hardening. The rammer shows 30-50% case hardening drifting to patina. The backstrap and trigger guard show 40-60% darkening original silver plate. The varnish wood grips show 80-90% varnish with some slight wear at the bottom edges, minor handling, but are generally near excellent. The action is crisp, the bore is bright and shiny and shows little use. All matching visible serial numbers. A crisp ’62. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
