Colt model 1861 Navy (conversion) to .38 caliber centerfire, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, showing 1871/72 patent dates on left side of frame, serial #3128. Barrel Navy-marked with RWM inspection and naval anchor on bottom. The pistol shows a plugged percussion barrel, ejector rod housing added, recoil plate added to back of frame with loading gate. Refer Flayderman 5B-124. The barrel shows 70-80% blue finish of military type just drifting at the edges. Slightly light in the barrel address. Some dings, mars, scratches, and beginning age. The ejector rod housing shows traces of original blue. There are some small dings on the barrel lug by wedge. The cylinder shows 30-50% light original cylinder scene with some light cleaning long ago, now going back to patina, some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The frame shows 20-40% case hardening going to a smoky grey patina, some erosion and pitting by patent dates but generally good overall with some good rainbow colors on the right side of frame and protected areas on left. The hammer shows 30-50% case hardening. The backstrap and trigger guard show a uncleaned brass patina. The varnish wood grips are very good with
