Colt model 1861 Navy Richards-Mason Conversion to .38 rimfire caliber. Original nickel finish, varnish wood grips, serial #96. The revolver remains in fine to excellent original condition showing 90-95%bright original nickel. Some minor losses, slight beginning age, and miniscule pinprick pitting where finish has lifted. The cylinder scene is nearly 100% intact. The markings are razor sharp, the edges are crisp. Thehammer shows bright blue on the firing pin, and most original case hardening. The trigger shows most of its original blue. The varnish wood grips are fine to near excellent with at least 95% original varnish, just someminor marks and edge wear. All matching serial numbers, crisp action, pristine interior. One of about 2,200 of this model produced as a cartridge arm. A strong 9.7 on a 1-10 scale. Would be difficult to improveupon.
