Colt model 1855 Root, third variation, .28 caliber percussion revolver, 3-1/2” octagon barrel, full fluted cylinder, serial #17827. Refer Flayderman 5B-066. The Colt remains in very good plus original condition showing 40-60% original bright blue going to brown patina with some scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion. Most of the aging on top of barrel and left front of frame. The markings are good, the edges are sharp. Patent dates on cylinder very legible. The hammer and loading lever show strong traces of case hardening. The varnish wood grips are at least very good with 70% varnish, some minor marks at edges and a nice burl grain. The action is in need of adjustment as the cylinder pin kicks out. There are some minor marks on the end of the cylinder pin and rear of frame. A good example. Est: $800 - $1,600
