Colt model 1855 Root, .28 caliber percussion revolver, second model, blued finish, varnished wood grips, in near-fine original condition. Serial #14561. The revolver retains 75-85% bright original blue finish, some flaking and losses, mostly at gripping area and edges. Some slight spotting and minor staining. The cylinder retains nearly all its original light cylinder scene and 90-95% blue. The hammer shows 80-90% case hardening. The loading lever shows 50% case hardening drifting to grey. The varnish wood grips are fine to near excellent with 90-95% varnish, some slight wear at the edges, just minor normal aging. The edges and markings are super crisp, the interior excellent, and the Root has seen littl use. All matching visible serial numbers. An 8-1/2 to 9 plus on a 1-10 scale. Good enough for a case. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. International buyers pay all shipping costs including shipping to exporter, shipping internationally, all custom & duty fees, etc. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence.
