Colt model 1855 .56 caliber 5-shot revolving carbine with factory 21” barrel, grey patina finish, cartouche wood stock, serial #859. Refer Flayderman 5B-082. The gun remains in good original condition showing a lightly cleaned grey patina finish, some scattered light to slightly heavy pitting and erosion, the heaviest pitting on the cylinder and some spots on the barrel. The markings on the cylinder and tang are visible, the marking are the side of frame are not visible. The rear sight is a correctly-made replacement, the stock is good with visible cartouche on left wrist, some mars and scratches, and a light coating of varnish or shalack, but no sanding- with a good wood to metal fit. The action is not quite working properly and needs some minor adjustment. The original sling swivels are retained. There is also a small “P” inspection at the rear top of barrel and junction of frame. Martially-marked Civil War specimens are quite scarce, approaching rare. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
