Colt model 1851 Navy revolver .36 caliber percussion, iron backstrap and trigger guard, U.S. Navy marked, serial #62112. The revolver shows 80-90% of old arsenal type refinish, similar to the blue found on Navy conversions. The edges are sharp, the markings fairly crisp, the cylinder shows 80-90% cylinder scene with engagement dates still visible. The left side of frame shows U.S. marking. The revolver shows S.M. small inspector marks. There is a large USN stamp on butt with stars between the U and S and N. There is the initial “I” on bottom of right grip with initials “S”, Star, “C”, Star, “R”. The grips are very good with some slight wear at the edges, normal aging, slight gouge to bottom right grip. All matching visible serial numbers. Crisp action, bright and shiny bore. Several prominent collectors agree that this full-blue finish is of the 19th century and probably arsenal applied. A scarce “Navy” Navy. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
