Colt model 1851 Navy revolver, .36 caliber percussion, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, with capping groove, serial #142794. The barrel is numbered 143794. The loading lever is numbered 3794. All other numbers are 2794, probably indicating a factory error. The revolver remains in very good plus to near fine original condition with approx. 20-40% original blue on barrel, evenly drifting ant toning to a bright grayish brown with some mottled erosion and some minor pinprick pitting just starting. Some scratches and mars around the wedge port area. The cylinder shows 50-60% cylinder scene, engagement dates faintly visible, and about 30-40% blue going to brown. The frame shows 60-70% case hardening with some rainbow colors still showing strong, just drifting at the top of the frame and edges. The hammer shows 40-50% case hardening, loading lever 30-50%. The backstrap show traces of darkened silver. The varnish wood grips are good to very good and would be rated higher except a large chip from rear of heel that has been rounded over from carry and a few other minor marks and scratches, wear at the edges, about 75% varnish. The edges are very crisp, markings sharp, bore
