Colt model 1849 pocket model, .31 caliber percussion, with factory 3” barrel, no ramrod, often identified as “Wells Fargo model”. Serial number “122206”. The revolver remains in good to very good original condition showing generous cases of blue and case hardening mixing in the patina. There is some spotting and scattered light erosion and surface pitting, normal aging. The cylinder shows 30-40% light stagecoach hold-up scene. The backstrap and trigger guard show 30-40% original thick silver plate, and there are some dings and mars from contact on edges of trigger guard and butt. The varnish wood grips are very good plus with 60-70% original varnish, some wear at the edges, some slight dings, mars, scratches, and just normal aging. Good markings, all matching visible serial numbers. Good action, good overall. The pistol shows the “8” beneath the serial number on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap, which is a peculiarity of this model. The barrel is not quite setting well on the pins and it shows a slight gap from being pried. With DuPont inventory sheet, purchased by him in 1983 in case, which is now separated. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
