Colt model 1849 pocket model, .31 caliber, 4” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips in very good to near fine original condition, serial number “164681”. The Colt shows a two line New York address and five shot cylinder. The barrel retains 60-80% original blue, evenly thinning and drifting with some light scratches, some minor erosion and pinprick pitting starting where the finish is lost. There are some minor nicks on the right side of the barrel near the wedge and some minor scratches beneath the wedge. The markings are sharp, the edges are crisp. The cylinder shows 75-85% original scene, and approx. 10-20% original blue drifting to a nice patina. The frame shows 75-85% strong and colorful case hardening, the hammer and loading lever show 50-70% case hardening with good colors. The varnish wood grips are very good plus to near fine with 80-90% varnish, thinning at the edges and heels, with some minor marks, scratches and light wear. The straps show 90% thinning original silver plate. All matching visible serial numbers. A crisp pocket model. The Colt is contained within a high quality modern-made French style fitted case with Colt emblem on top and identification plaque inlayed into the bottom of the case. Est.: $2,500-$4,000
