Colt house pistol with cloverleaf cylinder, .41 caliber, 3” barrel, blue and nickel finish, varnish wood grips, serial number “3879”. The revolver remains in very good plus to near fine original condition, approx. 60-70% original bright blue on barrel and cylinder. Some drifting at the edges, some minor scratches, and slight erosion where the finish has lifted. Good sharp barrel address. Frame shows approx. 80-90% original silver, some areas of peeling and loss. Areas where the nickel has flaked have gone to a deep patina with no cleaning. The varnish wood grips are very good with approx 60% varnish and even aging. The hammer shows considerable finish and even color. The numbers match, and the centerpin is original. Good sharp patent dates in the sighting groove. Action crisp, interior near excellent. An unusual period or factory stamp by the serial number which may be an “N” or a “Z” and is completely unknown to this cataloger and never before seen on a cloverleaf. With inventory sheet from the Charles DuPont collection. Purchased 1997. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
