Colt experimental prototype .45 ACP caliber, double-action offensive pistol, stainless steel construction, 10-round capacity, serial number “X29148”. This tool room prototype gun was manufactured for the trials in 1983 for Navy SEALS and competed with H&K model 23, which subsequently won the contract. With Colt technical operator’s manual, terming this model “Offensive handgun pistol”, contract number N00164, which completely describes and details the operation features and specifications of this model. The pistol measures approx. 11-1/2” overall with thumb-release muzzle break attached. The pistol is equipped with many special features for shooting with wet hands, ability for mounting with laser aiming module, rotating barrel with short recoil system, automatic slide stop. Weight is approx. 56 oz. Plastic checkered medallion grips, and a host of technical features that fill this manual. The condition is fine to near excellent showing some handling and use, minimal firing, probably in tests. The only example ever examined by this cataloger and the only example known in private hands.
