Colt conversion of Model 1862 police or pocket Navy to .38 caliber center-fire showing an addition of recoil plate and 1871-72 patent dates along with plugged percussion barrel and ejector rod and spring added, serial number 9116. The revolver shows a 4 ½” barrel and is nickel plated with original one-piece ivory grips. Approximately 20% to 40% original nickel remains and the balance has gone to gray with some light cleaning. There is some scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion. The loading gate is an old handmade good quality replacement probably made during the period of use. The ivory grips showing nice yellow patina and some age cracking with small losses but are generally very good. All matching visible serial numbers and cylinder shows both percussion and cartridge number which is correct. The action is not quite working perfectly but cycles. The firing pin is also a well-made period replacement with a long Spike. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $900 -$1,800.
