'First Series Target Model,' a vintage single-action semi-automatic target pistol chambered for .22 Long Rifle ammunition, manufactured circa 1934 in Hartford, CT. Colt Woodsman pistols made prior to 1931 were designed to use standard velocity ammunition, and the change was made to the mainspring housing at approximate serial number 80,000. At approximate serial number 85,000, all of the new models were designed for high-velocity ammunition (from the 'Blue Book of Gun Values'). Pistol features a blued finish, 6-5/8" medium weight tapered barrel, fixed pinned front sight, dovetailed windage adjustable rear sight, serrated curved trigger, serrated heel magazine release, partially serrated mainspring housing, smooth grip straps, factory two-toned ten-round magazine marked "Colt Woodsman", checkered manual safety/slide stop, and two-piece checkered walnut grips. Pistol retains approximately 97% of it's original blued finish with minor edge wear at the muzzle, pistol grip toe, and trigger guard, with very light scattered nicks and scratches. Metal displays no rust, but there is some marring where the slide stop engages the slide when locking open. Action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. The markings are sharp, and the wood grips are good with a half inch crack at the bottom of the right grip panel. These are hard to find in this condition at this age.
Condition is NRA Excellent.
