Colt U.S. Third Model Dragoon percussion revolver with military inspected Colt shoulder stock, .44 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue finish, wood stocks, #17142, all matching visible numbers including the wedge, with stock #s 17545 & 17546 on the stock frame and one the iron butt plate. This stocked Dragoon is in overall very good condition showing an even brown patina on the revolver’s metal surfaces, good bore, action and markings including “U.S.” on frame, inspectors’ initials and two visible inspector cartouches on the grips; cylinder scene is approx. 70% -80% visible, there are slight traces of case color on the loading lever and frame and there are two interesting faint period scratched markings on either side of the bottom of the frame, one is what appears to be a “G” and the other, a Masonic symbol. The stock is in overall very good condition with two good inspectors’ cartouches (one on either side of the stock) and very good wood with scattered nicks, mars and scratches from storage and carry and the iron stock ring is retained.
