Early model full-auto sub-machine gun with 12" finned barrel. Blued finish with plain walnut removable butt stock pistol grip and forward grip. Steel butt plate, flip up rear aperture sight and single/full auto selector switch. This is a 1921 model with a 1928 overstamp. Military style muzzle-break and front sight added when back at factory. This gun was purchased by Potter county sheriffs office in Amarillo, TX in April of 1922 for a sum of $38.25 where it remained in service and used by deputies until 1983. Fully documented since original purchase and documents include: original sales order, original manual for 1921 and 1928 model, late 1930's photo of deputies, 30 years of documentation for deputy John Brown including his badge and patches. This gun is featured in the spring 2008 Rampant Colt magazine, the book "Thompson: The American Legend" by Tracie L. Hill on page 531, and "Colt Thompson Serial Numbers" by Gordon Herigstad section 1200-1299 page 24. Also well known among collectors as this was in the David Tate collection. Also included is a period correct F.B.I black hard carry case, 50 round drum mag, 4 20 round stick mags, original oiler and cleaning rod. Also included is an auto ordinance 1911 single action semi auto pistol special ordered to be serial numbered to the sub machine gun. Includes Colt collector banner, and clear plexiglass display box. David Tate is known among collectors for his impeccable taste in collecting firearms. Everything is in very good or better condition.
